The Oregon Coast has many different micro climates and with each, there are various types of activities to do that are very distinct to the area. We will try to explain some of the more visited areas first and then try to explain them as best we can.
 
 The Oregon Coast is very easy to travel along U. S. Highway 101 and stretches along the Pacific Ocean approximately 400 miles. It begins at the southern border 7 miles south of Brookings and continues to the northern tip at Astoria along the Columbia River.
 
As you travel along the coast you will find many small to medium large cities with a very diverse selection of attractions and amenities to fit your personal desires and needs. You will find several working light houses and many parks to visit. There are various recreational facilities such as rivers, lakes, campsites as well as the beaches and the entire coast line loaded with many scenic sights to visit and photograph. There is a large number of hiking trails to take you along the beach as well as into the forested areas where you will find a very large variety of trees as well as many species of wildlife and birds, some that can only be found along coast of Oregon.
 
The Historical society has many displays and museums to visit and historical sights to visit where you can learn how each area and community was formed and named as well as the type of industry that made each location unique. Each town or city has a unique type of climate and each with a very diverse style all it’s own. There are many festivals and other attractions that fit each community.
  
The Cities and towns along the coast also have festivals and other cultural programs on a weekly basis during the spring and continuing through the fall seasons.
The Oregon Coast is also a virtual haven for bird watching due to the large variety of birds that are either native or are traveling north or south for the seasons.
